From the moment you commission a piece we will engage in a process of identifying your pet’s unique character and individuality. We will look at photos you have and if necessary take more or you can describe special memories of your pet that I can then capture in paint. This process may lead to sketches that you can approve or correct, ensuring the most accurate and unique, personalised piece possible.

High Quality Craftsmanship

I use a mixed media process in my work that combines an acrylic background with custom stencils and an oil portrait of your pet. I have developed this process over years of practice and find it allows me the greatest flexibility to combine expressive, vibrant art with custom features alongside a touching realistic portrayal of your loved one. This combination leads to truly individual pieces that go beyond what a photograph can offer. Acrylic and oil have the ability to be combined in this order to produce an archival piece. To further protect your final piece from time and sunlight I varnish it with a U.V. barrier resin varnish.

Much like a photo, a painted portrait of your pet has the power to evoke their memory long after their passing. However, not every photo is going to make excellent wall art. This is where a painted portrait can shine as it will have the gravitas to hold a position on your wall where you will feel proud for visitors to see it. Moreover, my pet portraits can be tailored to your living space using colour, pattern or texture. In many cases a painted portrait may feel even more lifelike than a photo helping you to feel as though your pet is with you forever.

This is often a difficult area to discuss with much awkwardness around the topic. I have to tell you that it takes time to create the perfect piece, it takes time to build up the skills to be able to do it, it takes time to build the business to sell it and to find people for whom this is valuable; and time is money. But let’s not focus on money, let’s focus on value. What would it be like to have a uniquely crafted piece of art dedicated to your beloved pet hanging in your home? There’s nothing to match it, is there? I can help you break up the investment with my payment plans (done via PayPal, with all the inherent customer protections). Process

You may be wondering if the whole process will be complicated, difficult or awkward. Really it couldn’t be simpler: you send a request over on my expressive pet portraits page (you may have already done so), I respond and if I accept the request I will send you a contract to sign and then you come here and select the appropriate payment plan. We will then have a discussion about your pet/s and the composition, colours and symbolism you may want and arrange reference photos for me to work from. Then I will get to work and send you regular updates on the progress of the painting.

Quality and Satisfaction

You should expect the finished painting to last for generations as I use good quality materials. In the case where you are not fully satisfied with the finished piece, despite making corrections during progress updates, I will refund 50% of the fee.
