Rugged Ragwort

Description

Whilst working on this ragwort inspired art piece I was reminded of scruffy ragwort plants on a sunny day. I used interference gold so that the painting looks different from various angles or with changing light sources. This mirrors the nature of ragwort at once attractive to me but poisonous to horses.

Why Ragwort Inspired Art?

Ragwort plants, known for their robust resilience, thrive in diverse environments, from neglected fields to challenging terrains. These hardy perennials possess a tenacity that withstands adversity, making them a persistent force in nature. However, their tough demeanor takes a less amicable turn for horses, as Ragwort is unfriendly to them when ingested. Its toxic properties pose a threat to equine well-being. Yet, amidst their hardiness and potential hazards, Ragwort’s distinct appearance features in this ragwort inspired art, capturing both the rugged strength and the cautionary nature of this formidable plant. In the realm of creativity, ragwort inspired art reflects the dichotomy between resilience and caution embodied by the sturdy Ragwort.
